Plamen is currently working as a Rheumatologist and an Assistant Professor in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology at the Medical University of Plovdiv and Kaspela University Hospital, Plovdiv, Bulgaria, as well as at an outpatient private practice. He has graduated the same university and then spatialize General Medicine, Pain medicine and Rheumatology He began to study diagnostic and interventional MSK ultrasound back in 2010 and successfully passed the Teach the Teacher EULAR exam in 2014. He then co-founded the Bulgarian Association for MSK Ultrasound in 2015. In the following years he organised several Basic and Intermediate level EULAR endorsed courses, as well as a focused course on US guided MSK interventions in Bulgaria. He also has organised and taught in numerous local courses, aimed at increasing the MSK US competence of Bulgarian Rheumatologists and other practitioners. He is also a member of the faculty for the postgraduate MSK US course at the Medical University of Plovdiv.
Plamen is among the contributors to the EULAR Web based Imaging bank and part of the Anatomy for the Image EULAR study group. He holds a PhD degree in Rheumatology, with a thesis on the application of MSK US in low back pain. Beside this, his main interests lay in Spondyloarthritis, Regional pain syndromes/ soft tissue rheumatism and Osteoarthritis.
